When making a contribution to the ARCS Scholar Award Fund, you can know that 100 percent of each contribution is awarded to a student without deductions for administrative overhead.

How Does Giving Help Florida and Tampa Bay?

Tampa Bay Chapter ARCS Scholar Awards provide an essential tool for recruiting the best scholars in the nation to come to Tampa Bay to study. By strengthening the  scientific research programs in our state universities, ARCS Scholars make a significant contribution to Florida and Tampa Bay economies. Through networking opportunities and corporate mentorships, ARCS Scholars are encouraged to remain in Florida after they receive their PhD degrees, strengthening the state’s technological and innovative capacity.

How Do I Invest?

Endowed Named ARCS Scholar Award $200,000
This establishes one endowed named scholar award in perpetuity.

Named ARCS Scholar Award $15,000
Donated by one to three funders, this provides one student with a three-year award.

Scholar Award Fund
Gifts of any size to the Scholar Award Fund support our scholars.

Gifts of Stock
Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock. Please use our Donor Letter of Securities Transfer form. Contact us with questions, and please notify ARCS Foundation at prior to gifting stock in order to allow for a timely handling to maximize its value.

Corporations and individual donors support ARCS Foundation Tampa Bay by underwriting at various levels ARCS Foundation events including  the annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon.  See sponsor levels on the Donors and Sponsors page.

Corporate Matching Gifts
Many corporations encourage their associates to contribute to qualifying charitable organizations. A matching gift program offers a way to double associates’ contributions to their favorite charitable organization and thus improve their communities. You can contact your employer to determine if they will match your donation to ARCS Foundation Tampa Bay. All matching gift contributions go to the Scholar Awards Fund unless designated otherwise.

Pam Hallock Muller - Mentor of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Pamela Hallock Muller, professor in the College of Marine Science, on her selection as the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Minority PhD Program’s Mentor of the Year during the Compact for Faculty Diversity/Institute on Teaching and Mentoring Conference held October 25-28, in Tampa, FL.  Dr. Hallock Muller is the director of the Coral Reef Indicators Lab and was nominated by Michael Martinez-Colón, a doctoral student in her research group.
Each year, only one faculty advisor from Sloan programs throughout the nation is selected for “demonstrated excellence in mentoring, contributions to increasing diversity and meeting other goals of the Compact’s Mission”.  

Dr. Hallock Muller is a Founding Member of ARCS Foundation Tampa Bay and is an ARCS Scholar (Hawaii).

Melissa Price receives the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award

Melissa Price (ARCS Scholar Tampa Bay), a USF cancer cell biology graduate student and member of Dr. Alvaro Monteiro’s lab at Moffitt, has been awarded the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award for Individual Predoctoral Fellows. This National Institutes of Health award is considered one of the most competitive predoctoral fellowships available. (September 2012).

Melissa Price – Cancer Biology

"I have just completed the Eukaryotic Gene Expression Course at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories and I would like to thank you for allowing me to have this amazing experience.....This course has provided useful knowledge that I will continue to use to search for a cure for cancer.
